Flipped Professional Development with TechSmith
Sure, professional development can be painful - but it doesn't have to be! Learn how you can take control of your own learning and leverage the expertise of your colleagues (and perhaps more importantly, students) to build a model that breaks the 'one size fits all' mold of PD as we know it. This session will focus on using video to create PD modules, but just like in the flipped classroom - it's not all about the videos. It's about building a learning community that continues to support teacher development beyond just a half day in-service here and there. This session will feature the use of TechSmith screencasting tools like Jing, Camtasia, and Snagit to create and share videos to YouTube, but any screencasting software or video hosting platform can be used.

Google PLUS - Professional Learners Using Social media
How can you get the most from your Professional Learning Community? Google+ is an amazing global network of professional communities at your fingertips. Search for, follow, or create your own PLN; share ideas, strategies, and success stories, and contribute back to the profession through the use of Google Hangouts.

In this session, attendees will take the Professional Learning Community into a global sphere. Educators will search for and create communities within Google Plus to research and study current issues in education. Participants will learn to use Google hangouts to hold discussions or even deliver professional development remotely.

Create a Mini Open Online Community or MiOOC with a Google Site
Google Apps for Education offers many powerful tools to develop a community of learners. MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course) are the rage. While not a true MOOC you can use a Google Site effectively as a Mini-MOOC. This session will show you how to use a Google Site to guide the learning and assessment of all members of your school. If your school is launching a student digital device program, come and learn how to use a Google Site to equip all learners in our school with the needed skills and knowledge about using digital devices to be connected and responsible digital learners. Attendees will be provided access to a Google Site template to customize to fit the needs of their school. Learn how to embed videos, Google forms, and comments to create your school’s MiOOC. We will also discuss best practices, and see a live example.
